On this week’s video, I’m comparing my new Aquabrick to my old Aquatainer. I’ve had the Aquatainer for a few years and it’s already showing it’s age with some broken parts and an overall lack of quality. However, the Aquabrick is significantly more heavy duty with some really nice features that make it quite competitive and easier to handle than the larger Aquatainer.
I’ve used my Aquatainer for a few years and it has a very large capacity (7 gallons) which is a plus. However, the plastic piece that secures the vent cover to the container broke shortly after I got it. Also, the walls of the container are extremely thin so, with the larger size and having to squeeze it in between a front seat and the back seat, it’s definitely showing some wear.
Conversely, the Aquabrick is a really nice piece of gear. While it only holds 3 gallons of water, this is actually a pro in that it makes moving it a lot easier (lighter and smaller) and storing it is easier too. The wall construction is significantly thicker as well, which gives me a lot more confidence that it will last much longer than the Aquatainer.
If you will be taking trips in areas with easy access to unfiltered water, there is also a filtration kit you can buy for the Aquabrick which basically means you can have unlimited water despite the smaller size.
Again, there are pros and cons to both of these, but I favor the Aquabrick for sure. For more info and a better look at these containers, check out the YouTube video below.
