You may be aware that I recently picked up a Newair dual zone fridge/freezer that is a great option for Overlanding. As a result, they were the first ones I went to when I was looking for a chest freezer for my garage. I wanted to share because I think that this would be a great option for Overlanders/preppers looking for dedicated food storage options. Also, for people that are into hunting and need the extra space to freeze excess, this thing is great. I’ll walk you through the features in this written review and I’ll have a video review coming soon that I’ll link once it’s up!
The Newair 7 Cubic Foot Chest Freezer (the product SKU is: NFT070MB00) has a ton of interior space. What I like the most is that inside, it’s huge, but outside it’s very compact. I remember the old chest freezers from my childhood that seemed enormous and took up about as much room as a vehicle in my parent’s garage. This thing is very sleek and small, but still features a good amount of room for storage.
The hinges are really easy to operate and feel like they assist with opening, which is nice (especially if you have a bunch of groceries in your hands). As you open it, you’ll notice that the hinges will assist with keeping it open at several different angles, which is pretty nice. There’s also a door alarm, so if your kids leave it open after grabbing a popsicle, you’ll know.
The fast freeze mode injects extra cold air into the freezer to help quickly cool room temperature goods which helps keep them fresh longer. So, if you’re a hunter or homesteader, you can use this setting to get that meat down to temp quicker.
With just a couple of buttons, it’s super easy to work this freezer too. Want to “fast freeze” your stuff? Click fast freeze. Want to change the temperature? Hold both the up and down arrows for a few seconds and then adjust the target temp to what you want it to go to and it’ll do the rest.
Overall, I’m super happy with this freezer and I can see that it’s going to give us a ton of flexibility and storage for years to come. If you want one for yourself, click here: LINK. Or, if you’re looking for the product manual, they have a great digital copy on the Newair site HERE. Let me know if you have any questions and I’m happy to help. Thanks for reading!
