I had the pleasure to hit up a ton of trails along the Kentucky Adventure Trail on a section called the Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway (DBBB for short) in January of 2022. I had finally gotten the Titan swapped Frontier that I bought in September of the previous year up and running enough that I felt confident to take it on this trip which was about four hours each way.
I drove the truck down with no problems. Hit trails for a couple of days and it did great. Then finally, as we were heading home, I started to get a check engine light and lost power. We ended up having to call a friend with a trailer to come meet us a couple of hours south of Indy to pick up the truck and bring it home.
Once we got home, we found out that one of the cats had disintegrated and clogged one of the lower cats which was causing a choked condition for the motor resulting in it being almost un-driveable above a couple thousand RPMs.
I was able to capture the trip on video so that you can check out the trails we did and how the trucks performed. I went with a buddy with an 80 series Land Cruiser and we met one of his friends there who had a 200 series Land Cruiser. It was tons of fun and I can’t wait to do it again when the truck is actually running right!
Watch the video for all of the action!
